Everyone that comes to Terra Frutis must give a $100 security deposit either on arrival, or in advance. If you break, damage, lose or take something that is not yours, you are expected to pay for it immediately. If you do not make amends in a timely manner, you may be asked to leave. The security deposit is returned at the end of your stay, minus any money that you owe, and the cost of any items that you broke / damaged / lost / stole and didn’t pay for.
If you do not request your security deposit back within 1 month of leaving Terra Frutis, it will be forfeited and considered a donation to the community.
If we have to take you to the hospital because of an emergency, you will be charged for any expenses (e.g. transport) incurred. Your medical expenses are your own responsibility.
Work exchange:
For volunteers staying for less than 1 month, there is a $50 deduction from the security deposit to compensate for our time training you in farm tasks.
Utilities are not pro rata – that means that, for example, if you are here for 1 month spread over 2 calendar months, you will be charged for each month separately. Utilities are $15 per month, and mattress rent is $10 per month, payable at the start of each month. If you stay for less than 15 days out of a month, you will be charged $1 per day for utilities. If you stay for less than 10 days out of a month and are renting a mattress, you will be charged $1 per day for mattress rent. For more than 15 or 10 days respectively, you will be charged for the full month.
If at any point in your stay you owe more than $75 for utilities, you will be given 7 days notice to either pay what is owed, or leave.
Renting at Terra Frutis
Depending on which accommodation option you select, you may be asked to send your security deposit ahead of time to secure it. If you cancel, we will refund your security deposit minus a $10 cancellation fee. If you choose to cancel less than 2 weeks before your booking, you will forfeit your security deposit. Any Paypal (or similar) fees are your responsibility.
Renting our house near Gualaquiza
To book the house (or a room in the house), you will need to send a $100 deposit in advance. If you cancel your reservation, we will refund your deposit minus a $10 cancellation fee. If you choose to cancel less than 1 month before your booking, your deposit is non-refundable, unless we (or you) find someone to take your booking. Any Paypal (or similar) fees are your responsibility.
